Antic’s Technology
Our expertise
encompasses antenna design, wireless system design, digital signal processing,
RF/Microwave circuit design, and product development for mass production.
We are
developing products that supplement and improve OFDM radios. OFDM is the de-facto choice of high
performance modulation schemes for modern digital radios, and is used in WiMAX (802.16), WiFi (802.11), and cellular Long
Term Evolution (LTE).
High bandwidth
wireless systems can be most successful if implemented in a way that allows low
capital and operating costs. Since radio
spectrum is an expensive commodity, it makes sense to try to make high
bandwidth systems work in the license-free bands. The challenge to reliability and range in
these bands is learning how to tolerate and combat interference, so that is one
of the primary focus areas for Antic’s current research and product
development.
Another of
Antic’s focus areas is Large-N arrays.
There are great benefits from adding many more antennas, and Antic’s Large-N arrays use many more elements
than the maximum of 2 or 3 found in off-the-shelf systems. Analog beamforming falls short of achieving
the performance of DSP-based combining.
Our Two-Tiered antenna combining
technology applies both analog and DSP-based combining. This arrangement provides the performance of
a DSP-system without the cost-penalty typically associated with this level of
sophistication.
